Myles Lewis-Skelly’s immediate future at Arsenal is being debated following Ethan Nwaneri’s departure on loan.

The attacking midfielder is in Marseille and will spend the second half of the season there. Mikel Arteta convinced Nwaneri to join Roberto De Zerbi’s side, where he is expected to get plenty of minutes.

The reason why the youngster has been sent out on loan is because of his lack of game time at Arsenal this season.

Another player who has struggled in that department is Nwaneri’s best mate Lewis-Skelly, but he is staying put.

If you were Myles Lewis-Skelly, what would you do in the January transfer window after barely playing this season?

Myles Lewis-Skelly is not pushing to leave Arsenal on loan despite lack of game time

Myles Lewis-Skelly has had a difficult season at Arsenal.

The teenager had a phenomenal breakthrough campaign in 2024/25. After making his debut, he quickly became the Gunners’ first-choice left-back ahead of Riccardo Calafiori.

Lewis-Skelly produced a number of phenomenal performances against the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid, and established himself as one of the best young players in the world.

Everyone felt that the Arsenal academy graduate would start the season as the first-choice left-back, but Arteta has preferred Calafiori and even Piero Hincapie in that role.

With the World Cup coming up and Thomas Tuchel publicly stating that Lewis-Skelly needs to play more, many people felt that a loan deal could be possible.

However, that is not going to happen. Alex Crook has revealed that the defender is relaxed about his situation and is not trying to leave the club in this window.

He said on talkSPORT: “I don’t think so. Obviously, there is a big issue with Riccardo Calafiori in terms of he keeps picking up these niggly issues. Lewis-Skelly is the next natural left-back.

“You could play Jurrien Timber there or Ben White, but in all the time that Calafiori struggles to stay fit, they will keep Lewis-Skelly in the building.

“He seems quite relaxed about that despite the fact that it could cost him a place in the US (World Cup). He is not pushing for a move, as I understand it.”

If Myles Lewis-Skelly could only play in one position for the rest of his career, would you have him at left-back or in midfield?

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s mentality at Arsenal deserves praise

Lewis-Skelly has shown incredible maturity on and off the pitch despite only being 19 years of age.

It could’ve been very easy for the youngster to sulk after not playing every game, but he has remained professional throughout.

Furthermore, the fact that Lewis-Skelly is not pushing for a move away from the club on loan ahead of the World Cup in the summer shows great mentality.

That is exactly what is needed from every player, and he deserves a lot of praise for the way he has been conducting himself in recent months.

We are sure Lewis-Skelly will have a part to play as Arsenal aim to go the distance in all four competitions.
