2024 has been a year of mixed emotions for Arsenal, who head into the new year sitting third in the Premier League table.
After missing out on the title by two points back in May, Mikel Arteta’s project kickstarted in August with the same aspiration.
Arsenal saw great change happen in the summer on their path to silverware over the 2024/25 calendar, with five players arriving and several departing in the transfer window.
While Arteta has been criticised for Arsenal’s summer transfer window with reference to incomings, there was a lot of activity regarding exits too.
Here are how the five senior players who left Arsenal permanently in 2024 are getting on at their new clubs.

What Arsenal’s 2024 departing players are doing now
Emile Smith Rowe
Many were pained to see Hale End product Emile Smith Rowe leave the Emirates in the summer, as the midfielder joined Fulham in a deal worth £34m.
Arteta prompted Smith Rowe to leave for a fresh start, seeing the highly rated star part ways with his boyhood club.
Since leaving, the 24-year-old has impressed at Fulham, making 19 appearances this season, contributing to five goals – three scored and two assisted.
Smith Rowe joined a host of former Arsenal players at Fulham, where he has found a new home to the delight of those in N5.

Aaron Ramsdale
Late in the window, Aaron Ramsdale joined Southampton to bring his stay at the Emirates to a close.
The goalkeeper’s exit was inevitable due to the rise of David Raya, who hasn’t looked back since his arrival.
Arteta’s decision to swap Ramsdale for Raya was correct, as the Spaniard has cemented his spot as the Gunners’ number one.
Since leaving, the Englishman has had a trialling time at St Mary’s, making 13 appearances in which he’s kept two clean sheets, with Southampton glued to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Eddie Nketiah
Like Smith Rowe, Arsenal said goodbye to another academy product in the summer, as Eddie Nketiah joined Crystal Palace in a £25m deal.
The striker has had a testing start to life with the Eagles, where he’s scored two goals and provided one assist in 16 appearances.
Still goalless in the Premier League for his new club, Nketiah scored against Arsenal in the EFL Cup, where he has scored both of his goals this term.
Being pushed out of the starting XI in Oliver Glasner’s side, there’s hope that Nketiah will spring to life at Palace in the near future.

Mohamed Elneny
Fan favourite Mohamed Elneny bid farewell, departing as the longest-serving Arsenal player at the time.
The midfielder joined UAE side Al-Jazira in the summer and in 11 appearances, he has scored one goal and assisted another.

Cedric Soares
It’s been a quiet time for Cedric Soares, who left Arsenal as a free agent in the summer and is still without a club.
Cedric was welcomed back to the Emirates by Arteta and Edu following his departure, as he continues to wait for his next venture.
