Wayne Rooney has admitted that if he were an Arsenal fan, he would be concerned about Manchester City’s recent form in the Premier League title race.

Following the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Wolves, and City winning 3-0 away at Crystal Palace, the gap between the two clubs remains at two points.

But Mikel Arteta’s team looked tired during the clash at the Emirates Stadium, with Bukayo Saka carrying Arsenal to the win.

The North London club came close to dropping points for the third time in their last four Premier League matches, as injuries look to be catching up to them.

Despite the win, Declan Rice was fuming at his Arsenal teammates, given how poor they had been throughout the match.

Following the weekend’s latest results, Rooney has been having his say on the current lay of the land in the title race.

Wayne Rooney shares Arsenal Premier League title concern

Wayne Rooney is worried about how good Manchester City look right now and fears Arsenal could start looking over their shoulders.

The former Manchester United striker is still backing Arteta’s team to get the job done eventually, but says City’s form could disturb the Gunners in the latter stages of the season.

He told The Wayne Rooney Show: “I still think Arsenal with the squad, they’re still the favourites, but City are looking dangerous again and looking good.

“Not that they haven’t, but I think that could really disturb Arsenal later in the season. I hope it doesn’t because I’d love to see Arsenal win it over City, but that would be my concern if I were an Arsenal fan.”

Imagine you are Mikel Arteta. What would your message to Arsenal players be after that performance vs Wolves?

As Rooney points out, Arsenal still have the squad advantage over City as they have shown they can deal with injuries to key players.

Arsenal have recently been without Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Cristhian Mosquera, but still had options to step in.

If Pep Guardiola’s team were to lose either Phil Foden or Erling Haaland, then it could be a very different story.

Next weekend will be interesting with City at home to West Ham United, just before Arsenal make the trip away to Everton.

Everton could be missing four key players against Arsenal

Although for Arsenal’s first trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton could be missing up to four key players.

Idrissa Gueye and Ilyman Ndiaye are off to AFCON, which is a huge boost for the Gunners, with the latter being Everton’s top performer this season.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were both forced off in the last match due to injury concerns.

No Ndiaye, Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall would mean that the Toffees’ whole front line will have been wiped out by injuries or AFCON.
