Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has expressed his admiration for one of his teammates.

Timber’s first season at Arsenal was derailed by injury, as the full-back suffered an ACL blow on the opening day of 2023/24.

It’s remarkable to think that Mikel Arteta’s side coped without the Dutchman, who has become indispensable to Arsenal’s back four.

Throughout the 2024/25 campaign, Timber has earned high praise, and now, the defender wants to put one of his teammates in the spotlight.

Jurrien Timber sings Myles Lewis-Skelly’s praises

It’s not only Timber who has been a standout at Arsenal this season, as the 2024/25 campaign undoubtedly belongs to Myles Lewis-Skelly.

From an academy player to a consistent first teamer, the 18-year-old’s breakthrough season has been one to admire, earning his England debut and starring in the Champions League.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Ipswich, Timber sung Lewis-Skelly’s praises, admitting that the teen is even better than he was when he broke through at Ajax.

“When I came through at Ajax, I was good, but Myles is something different,” he said.

“For his age, I find it crazy, he’s a special one. Outside the pitch, he’s nice and humble, then on the pitch, he’s like a lion.”

Lewis-Skelly was one of the heroes against Real Madrid as his lion-like personality shone through, remaining unfazed against some of the best players in the world.

Timber’s record when playing alongside Lewis-Skelly

After Arteta spent £42m on Riccardo Calafiori in the summer transfer window, very few would’ve expected to see the Italian kept out of the starting XI by a teenager.

Lewis-Skelly is a special talent, as Timber explained, with the Hale End graduate undoubtedly the strongest left-back available to Arteta at present.

With a back four of William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Timber and Lewis-Skelly, Arteta has one of the best defences in Europe.

Timber certainly enjoys playing with Lewis-Skelly, as the numbers show, with the pair losing only four matches when lining up together in the back four.

It’s been a season to remember for both of Arsenal’s fullbacks, who have made their positions their own throughout the campaign.
