Rio Ferdinand has surprisingly claimed that he will celebrate if Arsenal win the Premier League title this season.
The Manchester United legend was involved in many heated battles when Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger’s sides challenged for the big trophies.
Even in recent years, Ferdinand has enjoyed making fun of Arsenal when things haven’t gone Mikel Arteta’s way. That led many to assume he did not want the Gunners to win.
However, the former England defender has now broken his silence.
🏆 How many points will Man City and Arsenal take from their next five Premier League matches?
Rio Ferdinand reveals his celebratory plan if Arsenal win the Premier League title
Arsenal are four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table after 26 games.
The gap has been reduced recently, but the Gunners remain the favourites to win the title because of their squad depth and remaining fixtures.
Manchester City, however, will not give up. Pep Guardiola’s men will push all the way and try to do what they have twice done before – pip Arsenal to the title in the final weeks of the campaign.
Ferdinand, surprisingly, is hoping that the current leaders will win it. He has claimed that he would celebrate an Arsenal title win and would even send text messages to some of their players.

He said, as per The Metro: “I’ve looked at both of the run-ins and I don’t think there’s much difference. I don’t think anyone is majorly more difficult than the other.
“I think it’s a good run-in, I’m glad that Arsenal are getting pulled in just to make it more interesting because they were starting to run away with it, I was getting a bit scared of that.
“I’ll be celebrating if Arsenal win the league from afar.
“I’ll be happy if they win it and I’ll send a few of the players a text and be happy because it means Man City or Liverpool haven’t won it.”

Arsenal have the chance to increase the pressure on Manchester City
Manchester City fans will argue that their team know how to win the Premier League title from this position, but Arsenal can change that.
The Gunners take on Wolves on Wednesday night in a rearranged fixture. A win will push them seven points clear of City, thus increasing the pressure.
Guardiola’s side will have a game in hand, which would be a clash against Crystal Palace, but that fixture will not take place this week because of the Eagles’ European commitments.
A new date has not been decided yet, and it could well be rescheduled to some point in the business end of the season.
If that happens, Arsenal will have all the time in the world to put pressure on City, especially when they play first at the weekend. The lead could temporarily stretch to 10 points at times, which could make a massive difference in the minds of Guardiola’s men.
