Ian Wright believes that Mikel Arteta was wrong to take Eberechi Eze off against Man City, as he was starting to create chances.
The 27-year-old looked like one of the Gunners’ more dangerous players against City and had several big opportunities to score.
TRUE or FALSE: Eberechi Eze is Arsenal’s best number ten when at his best…
Eze saw one of his efforts deflect off both posts and out, which would have given Arsenal the lead at that stage in the game.
The winger ended up being subbed off after 74 minutes, but Wright would have kept him on the pitch given his ability to create out of nothing.
Ian Wright says Eberechi Eze should not have been substituted off
Ian Wright claims that Eberechi Eze’s ability to play off the cuff is why Mikel Arteta should have left him on the pitch against Man City.
The Arsenal legend reckons that if Eze had scored the effort which hit the post, Arteta would have kept him on against Pep Guardiola’s team.
When asked whether Arteta should have done anything different, Wright told The Overlap: “I don’t think I would have taken Eze off.
“You saw Eze hit the post, and again, whatever people say about, yeah, but moments play. The fact is, he plays in an area of the field where he can make those moments happen.

“As that came literally out of the blue, he hit the post with his left foot. I would have kept him on because he’s got that in him.”
Theo Walcott also claimed Eze should have remained on the pitch, and it’s becoming clear that Arteta made a mistake subbing him off.
Speaking about Arsenal’s performance, Walcott told NBC Sports: “But for me, really big moments when looking at substitutions, and Eze started getting involved with the game, particularly inside.”
Eze and Martin Odegaard started the game really well; however, both just seemed to run out of steam towards the end of the match.
Arsenal had several chances to score after Eze’s withdrawal, and maybe it would have been a different story had he remained on the pitch.
