Ian Wright is one of the biggest Arsenal fans out there.
The legendary Englishman works as a pundit now, but he is almost always in support of everything the Gunners do on and off the pitch.
Arsenal have finished second for the third season in a row, and there is a lot of frustration over how this campaign transpired.
All eyes are on next season now, and Wright has had his say on what he is expecting from his old club.
Ian Wright predicts where Arsenal will finish in the Premier League in 2025/26
Arsenal have come under a lot of criticism for finishing second three years in a row.
The Gunners lost out to Manchester City twice – first when they lost William Saliba for the final games of the 2022/23 season, and then despite going on a terrific run in the second half of the following campaign.
This time, Liverpool were able to run away with the title, mainly because Arsenal were decimated with injuries to many of their key players.
Mikel Arteta will be hoping for better luck next season, and there is a lot of work to be done in the transfer window as well to improve the depth in the squad.
If that happens, we think Arsenal can finally go all the way, and Ian Wright agrees.
Speaking on the David Seaman podcast, he said: “I think they will win the Premier League next season. Because I want them to do that, and I believe they are getting closer.
“I think it was unlucky this season because of the injuries and some of the decisions. They are going to have to make some signings to give them all a boost in there.
“I’m going to go with Arsenal to win the league, absolutely. Obviously, Liverpool are going to be a different entity; City can’t do what they’ve done again; Chelsea, now that they’ve got into the Champions League, they might make some signings.
“It’s going to be a tougher league next year, but I’m going to say Arsenal are going to do it.”
Three things need to happen for Arsenal to win the Premier League
Arsenal need to do everything they can to get over the line next season.
It is heartbreaking to finish second three times in a row, but this team is on the right track, and we are convinced that they have what it takes to do it.
But, for Arsenal to have the best chance, three things need to happen:
- Two big signings: Arsenal need to bring in a prolific striker and a winger this summer. The two players combining with a fully fit Bukayo Saka in attack will make a difference.
- Stay away from injuries: We don’t know how they are going to do it, but Arsenal need to have better luck with injuries. A fully available squad will make the Gunners really difficult to beat for any side.
- Referees: This is not in Arsenal’s control, but the standard of refereeing in the Premier League needs to improve massively. There needs to be more consistency. If that happens, the Gunners will have a much better chance.
