Former Arsenal star Ian Wright was full of praise for Bukayo Saka once again after his performance against Wolves.

The England international made his immediate return to the lineup at the Emirates Stadium, despite returning to pre-season late through his summer involvement in the European Championships.

There may have been concerns surrounding the match sharpness of Saka, along with his teammate Declan Rice, but the pair proved to be more than capable of performing.

The Hale End academy graduate was a particular standout, bagging an assist for Kai Havertz’s opener before his own effort doubled the lead.

It came as a huge boost for Arsenal, who notched up the first three points of their season, helping kickstart their push for the Premier League title.

With Saka picking up exactly where he left off last season, former star Ian Wright has discussed his impact and one key change Mikel Arteta made in the game.

Ian Wright gives fresh Bukayo Saka verdict

With Saka already adding a goal and assist to his tally just one match into the campaign, Wright outlined his delight for the winger.

On top of that, the Arsenal legend was also glad that Arteta brought the star off early – something that had been a criticism of the Arsenal boss due to the workload and potential injury pressure put on the 22-year-old.

Discussing the performance on his podcast, Wrighty’s House, Wright said: “I was pleased to see Bukayo Saka put in another fantastic performance and then getting taken off.

“He always looks like he is vexed about it because obviously he is still 22 [years old] and he wants to play but we need that man rested.

“The man just delivers, he’s getting better, they [Wolves] couldn’t stop him from scoring that goal, he eyes the ‘keeper [to score].”

What Arsenal fans said about Bukayo Saka performance

It wasn’t just Wright who was impressed with Saka’s performance, but the Arsenal fans also let their praise for the forward be known.

Taking to social media, one supporter said: “When I say Saka is everything to the club, this is what I mean,” inserting a video of the forward being applauded by the home support after being substituted.

“Saka is going off and I’m seeing every single person standing up applauding him whilst he’s walking to the bench. That was beautiful,” another added.

On Saka’s skill level, one fan compared him to some icons of yesteryear, saying: “For me, Bukayo Saka is on the same level as Alexis, Ozil, Cazorla, Fabregas as some of the best Emirates era players. He will go on to become the best ever. A hale end product that went on to become the face of the league.”

Another added on the goal he scored: “We saw this finish away to West Ham last season. Keeper expects him to go across goal, but he goes near post with venom. Adding this, and attacking crosses at the back post, will see Bukayo Saka’s open play goal tally soar for Arsenal this season.”

Bukayo Saka faces huge season for Arsenal

Should Arsenal go on to win the Premier League this season, the role of Saka in such a push shouldn’t be understated.

The winger has been a crucial part of the team’s rise back to the top and his ability to score and assist from almost anywhere has made him a tough player for the opposition to deal with.

Injuries may be the only thing that could halt a title push from Arsenal, not least if it is to their star man in Saka.

With Arteta bringing him off before the final whistle against Wolves, there is some hope that squad depth may help some of those key players keep up peak condition for all competitions this season.
