Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to step up their efforts to sign William Saliba to a new contract amid reports that Bukayo Saka had agreed a long-term deal with the north London side.
Speaking to the Mirror, the Arsenal legend revealed that the French international has to be Arsenal’s new contract priority following last week’s breakthrough that Saka will sign new terms with the Premier League leaders, with Saliba’s current deal due to expire next year.
Wright said: “People talking about Saka signing a new deal, and we know how much we need Saka. I don’t think there was any real problems with that happening because of his connection with the club. But I think all the eggs need to go in the Saliba basket. We have got to make sure we keep this guy.”
Saliba must be next in line for new Arsenal contract

Why Pele Is Overrated.
Saliba’s rise to prominence in the Premier League has been nothing short of speculator, with the 21-year-old forming an incredible centre-back partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes that has been the base for Arsenal’s fantastic defensive record this season.
However, as mentioned, Saliba’s current contract is causing some issues amongst supporters, with the defender potentially at the centre of interest from rival clubs ahead of the summer transfer window, and a new deal must be a priority for Arsenal.
As we know, Saliba has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season, and at 21, the former Saint-Etienne star is only going to get better from here, with the youngster a player who could realistically start for Arsenal for the next ten years.
Whilst Arsenal do have some time on their hands, the Gunners must head Wright’s message and now do all they can to sign the French defender to a new contract, with Saliba simply too good to allow to leave for any price in the next 18 months.
