Arsenal legend Ian Wright has had his say on Mikel Arteta’s furious rant in his interview after the win against Chelsea on Wednesday.

All of us expected the Gunners boss to be delighted after earning the three points, but Arteta was in an angry mood. He lashed out at the press for misquoting him and claimed that their actions ‘annoyed’ him. (Read here)

Arsenal fans really loved how passionate our manager was. He defended his players brilliantly and stood up against the people who are trying to disrupt the unity and the togetherness inside the club.

Wright believes that Arsenal players would’ve loved their manager’s passion after the game. He claimed that Arteta’s animated rant will help him keep the dressing room as the lads now know that he will stand up against the media to defend them.

He said on Optus Sport: “Players hear what the manager supposedly says, and it festers. You don’t want that to happen, the players are starting to think, the manager is saying ‘we’re not giving this, or that’.

“For him to come out and say that, will help when he goes back into the dressing room, the guys will see how animated and passionate he was about making sure that is not happening.”

It’s been a while since an Arsenal manager had a furious rant at the media after a game. It was even more surprising to see this happen after a win against one of the top sides in the country, but it’s safe to say that Gunners fans absolutely loved it.

Arteta simply had to do what he did on Wednesday night. We’ve all seen how easily a manager can lose his dressing room after public criticism of his players. Just look at what happened to Jose Mourinho down the road.

The difference is, Mourinho actually hung his players out to dry while the media made it look like Arteta did the same. Now that he has publicly rubbished those claims, the Arsenal boss will surely be a more popular man among the players.
