Iconic former striker Ian Wright has now called for Myles Lewis-Skelly to be afforded a chance in the Arsenal first team.
Myles Lewis-Skelly is one of the brightest young prospects currently on the books at Arsenal. The Hale End academy ace may well have been earmarked as a potential future star.
The 17-year-old midfielder was recently named amongst the hottest youth prospects currently held by Premier League clubs. On top of that, Arsenal under-18s coach Jack Wilshere has previously heaped praise on the teenager.
Speaking on The Arsenal Way, Wilshere described Lewis-Skelly as being “unplayable”. As quoted by The Athletic, he has also claimed that the player possesses certain qualities that “you can’t coach.”
Mikel Arteta will certainly be aware of the talent that the club have on their hands in Lewis-Skelly. The Arsenal manager certainly isn’t afraid to give youngsters their chance to shine for the first team, either.
Earlier this season, Arteta handed 19-year-old winger Charles Sagoe Jr his first team debut in a League Cup clash with Brentford.

Ian Wright desperate to see Myles Lewis-Skelly take next step
Ian Wright has now called on the Spanish coach to hand Lewis-Skelly the very same opportunity. Speaking on his Wrighty’s House podcast, the 59-year-old said, “we’ve got a couple of really good young players. Myles Lewis-Skelly, he’s going. I think that he’s one of those they should give him a run in the League Cup. I’d like to see him.”
Earlier this month, Arsenal handed Lewis-Skelly his first professional contract. There are clearly plans in place for the England under-18 international at the Emirates Stadium.
At the time of penning this landmark deal, the youngster said, “it means the world to me, my boyhood club ever since I can remember. To play for Arsenal, I’m truly speechless,” as quoted by the club’s official website.
Arsenal’s next League Cup fixture will see them take on West Ham United on November 1st. Arteta will certainly use that match as an opportunity to rotate his starting XI. Whether the time is right for Lewis-Skelly to make his senior debut for the club, though, remains to be seen.
