Jamie Carragher has spoken a lot about Arsenal since the Gunners lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield.
Arsenal were beaten by a freak goal from Dominik Szoboszlai that saw all three points remain on Merseyside.
Aside from that, the teams were impossible to divide, as both sides focused on maintaining control of the contest.
Though even Arne Slot said Arsenal and Liverpool couldn’t be separated, Carragher and other pundits have enjoyed shifting focus on Mikel Arteta.

Jamie Carragher says Arsenal won’t change under Mikel Arteta
One Arsenal fan called for Arteta to be sacked after what he saw at Anfield, which was quite a shocking reaction to a game merely decided by a moment of magic.
The discourse around the fixture has been whether the Arsenal manager could’ve selected a more attack-minded side, most notably snubbing Eberechi Eze for Mikel Merino in midfield.
Carragher questioned Arsenal’s creativity against Liverpool, and then, on The Overlap, the pundit was critical of Arteta again.
“You know what Arsenal remind me of? The Liverpool teams I played in. Under Benitez and Houllier, we were a nightmare to play against,” Carragher began.
“I think you’d say that, Scholesy, at times, in one-off games, tough to play against. But it always felt that both managers, at times, you felt, you got the handbrake on a little bit.”
The Liverpool icon then predicted that nothing would change at Arsenal after seeing Arteta’s teamsheet before kick-off at Anfield.
“It still feels like that with Arteta, and I don’t think it’s ever going to change, and that team sheet, before the ball was kicked, told me everything.”
It was a bold remark to make from an Arsenal performance that might’ve been lacklustre, but was no different to Liverpool’s.
Arsenal’s attacking statistics against Liverpool
Sure, Arteta’s team selection at Anfield puzzled many after Eze impressed in training after making the move to N5.
That being said, it didn’t have a particularly detrimental impact on the contest, as the numbers show.
| Liverpool | Statistic | Arsenal |
| 53% | Possession | 47% |
| 0.52 | Expected goals | 0.49 |
| 9 | Shots | 11 |
| 3 | Corners | 8 |
| 50 | Final third entries | 46 |
The two teams weren’t just evenly matched defensively, but in the final third too, where, contrary to Carragher’s understanding, Arsenal had more shots on goal than Liverpool.
Aside from the decision not to start Eze, there wasn’t a lot Arteta could be blamed for, in that his side matched and stood up to Liverpool away from home, losing by a moment of magic.
