England’s second game of the World Cup arrives tomorrow as Ghana stand in the way of the Three Lions this time.
Thomas Tuchel’s side won out 4-2 against Croatia last week and know that a point will be enough against Ghana to see them through to the knockouts.
However, winning the group should have advantages for England and it will be interesting to see if Tuchel makes any changes at all.
In midfield, Arsenal’s Declan Rice started alongside Elliott Anderson before being taken off.
But while Rice might be carrying a minor knock, Jamie Carragher believes there is simply no chance Rice should be dropped.
Arsenal fans…What should Thomas Tuchel do with Declan Rice in the next two games?
Jamie Carragher tells Thomas Tuchel he cannot drop Declan Rice
As we’ve seen with The Gunners all season, Rice is so good in the middle of the park.
Of all the England players barring Harry Kane, he’s probably the first name on the teamsheet.
Indeed, according to Carragher, Rice’s place in the team against Ghana tomorrow should not even be up for discussion.
“You don’t rest when you’re at the World Cup,” Carragher said for Sky Sports. “If England could win the next game, maybe you’d look to do that in the third game if you’re guaranteed top spot. But no, I don’t think you’re in a situation where you’re resting Declan Rice.

“I think it was more precautionary than too much of an injury [Tuchel’s decision to take Rice off vs Croatia]. It’s something that he’s been carrying for a lot of the season. He’s been one of the best players in the league. It hasn’t affected him too much at all, playing for Arsenal.
“It was probably the right decision to bring him off and make sure he’s 100 per cent fit for this game. If needs be, get this game won and out of the way and rest him against Panama.”
For Rice to be dropped or rested, it’s likely going to take a major injury problem.
Aside from Tuchel obviously being a big fan of the Arsenal man, Rice will not want to miss any minutes for his country if he can help it.
If England are to win and be successful this year, then Rice is as important as anyone. If he is carrying a knock, then Tuchel’s careful management of that is going to be key.
