Viktor Gyokeres is in perhaps the best form he’s been in since signing for Arsenal.
The Swedish striker has been brilliant as of late and he has earned his due praise.
However, that said, Arsenal are still in the market for a new striker this summer.
Indeed, Gyokeres has been criticised on numerous occasions this season, and there’s still a feeling that Arsenal could upgrade.
Julian Alvarez has been linked to Arsenal, and interestingly, Alvarez has now been directly compared to Gyokeres by Joao Pedro.
What is the highest fee you would pay to sign Julian Alvarez for Arsenal?
Is he worth more than Declan Rice?👀
Joao Pedro rates Julian Alvarez higher than Viktor Gyokeres
The Chelsea striker was taking part in a TikTok challenge with TNT Sports where he had to rank strikers based on their ability.
Pedro had to put players into three categories – those who he thinks aren’t as good as himself, those who are at his level, and those who are better.
According to Pedro, Alvarez is at an equal level to himself, while Gyokeres is below.
The timing of the clip has caught attention because both players are heavily connected to Arsenal in different ways.
Gyokeres is already leading the line for Mikel Arteta’s side, while Alvarez continues to be linked with a possible move to North London. Reports have suggested Arsenal admire the former Manchester City forward, although any deal would depend on the role being offered to him.
By placing Alvarez above Gyokeres, the Chelsea forward is effectively saying he believes the Argentine operates at a higher level. Coming from a fellow Premier League attacker, that opinion carries weight.
Of course, whether or not Arsenal decide to make a move for Alvarez this summer remains to be seen, and if they do opt to go for him, this will be an expensive deal.
Pedro may think that Alvarez is a level above Gyokeres, but it was the Arsenal striker who had the last laugh this week as Arsenal reached the Champions League final by eliminating Alvarez’s Atletico Madrid.
