Joe Cole has predicted that Arsenal are going to end up selling Martin Odegaard this summer, following the emergence of Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri.
The Gunners are expected to refresh the squad during the next summer transfer window, and that could involve several players being offloaded.
Explain your answer: Keep or sell Martin Odegaard?
Andrea Berta will be tasked with making some big sales this summer, and Odegaard could be one of the names on the list of departures.
Speaking about the current Arsenal squad, Cole has been assessing what changes the club could make, and one of them could be offloading the captain.
Joe Cole thinks Arsenal will sell Martin Odegaard
Joe Cole has just claimed that Arsenal could end up selling Martin Odegaard in the summer, who may become surplus to requirements.
Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri look to be the future of the North London club, and therefore, Odegaard could make way for the duo.
Nwaneri has been sent on loan to Marseille this season, given the fact that Odegaard and Eberechi Eze are both there in the number ten role. But long-term, Nwaneri is likely to be the main man.
Speaking about the Arsenal squad, Cole told The Dressing Room: “The only problem they’ll have is when new contracts are up now, because I’m looking at those boys now, and they’ll be like, Declan is going to want to be on top dollar.
“Gabriel, Saliba, all of them, they’re going to go, I want Real Madrid money. I think they might let Odegaard go.
👀 Who is the FIRST Arsenal player Andrea Berta must sell this summer?
“But they have the luxury of doing that because they’ve got Dowman coming through and they have Nwaneri coming through.”
The £34 million midfielder has been struggling with injuries this season, meaning that Arsenal may well look to move him on and keep more reliable options.
Odegaard has also struggled for form when he has played, which again might well convince the Gunners to let him move on in the summer.
The Arsenal captain has given so much to the club over the last five years, but this summer feels like the right time for him to move on.
