Stan and Josh Kroenke were both present to witness Arsenal become Premier League champions.

The owners watched Mikel Arteta’s side beat Crystal Palace before joining in with the celebrations at Selhurst Park after the final whistle.

The pair even carried the Premier League trophy onto the pitch together before later sharing a moment in front of the travelling Arsenal supporters.

This has clearly been an emotional moment for the Kroenkes after years of criticism and distrust from large sections of the fanbase.

Now, Josh Kroenke has opened up on how Arsenal supporters eventually came to understand what the club truly means to his family.

Josh Kroenke says Arsenal fans did not fully understand the Kroenkes at first

For many years, the Kroenkes were among the most unpopular owners in English football.

Large sections of the Arsenal fanbase questioned their ambition, commitment and emotional attachment to the football club.

That feeling only grew stronger during some of the Gunners’ difficult years when the team drifted away from competing for major honours. It got even worse when they decided to join the European Super League.

However, things have changed dramatically in recent seasons.

The Kroenkes backed Arteta heavily in the transfer market, trusted the long-term rebuild and stayed patient through difficult periods when many others may have panicked.

Now, after finally delivering a Premier League title, Josh believes Arsenal supporters understand his family far better than they once did.

He said, as per the Evening Standard: “Emotionally, financially, everything, this club means the world to us, and I think it took people a few years to really understand what that meant.

“But now we’ve got some great people, we’ve got some great players, some great coaches, and we’ve just gotta continue providing them the resources to go out and do magical things like they did this season.

“Credit to our players, our staff, and Mikel for keeping their heads on.”

Kroenke then made it clear that Arsenal’s ambitions do not stop with the Premier League title either.

He added: “We’ve achieved one of our goals, but we have several others as well. There is still one to be played for next weekend.”

The Kroenkes made mistakes at Arsenal, but they have redeemed themselves

It would be unfair to pretend the Kroenkes got everything right during their ownership of Arsenal.

There were years where the club stagnated, recruitment was poor, and supporters understandably felt disconnected from the people running the football club.

However, in recent seasons, the Kroenkes have genuinely redeemed themselves in the eyes of many fans.

They backed Arteta during difficult moments, spent heavily to improve the squad and trusted the process when outside noise became intense. Without that support, Arsenal probably would not be Premier League champions today.

Now, with the Champions League final still to come, the Kroenkes have the chance to oversee the greatest season in Arsenal’s history.
