Journalist Graeme Bailey has now claimed that Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is now very close to signing a new contract.

Bailey was speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast and mentioned that Arsenal are working on a few deals along with Odegaard.

He also mentioned that the club were making progress with Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Bailey said: “His [Martin Odegaard] new deal is very close we are told.

“Also talks going on with Ben White and [Oleksandr] Zinchenko as well.

“Arsenal are doing things the right way.”

This will no doubt be excellent contract news for Arsenal fans given £30m Odegaard’s massive role at the club.

In this new era under Mike Arteta, it now seems that Arsenal fans can trust the club to protect their best assets and players.

Several key players signed new deals in the summer, and the good work by Edu Gaspar is seemingly continuing.

At 24-years-old Martin Odegaard should still have his best footballing years ahead of him – a scary thought for Arsenal’s rivals.

And securing his future in North London must be a priority for the club.

Odegaard’s new Arsenal contract is now close

Of course, it’ll also be exciting news for Arsenal fans that White and Zinchenko are discussing new deals.

Ben White is perhaps the most understated performer in the Arsenal team right now.

It would appear that Mikel Arteta was keen to deploy White at centre-back this season, plans that had to change after Jurrien Timber’s injury.

However, now deployed back on the right White has been a stellar performer in Arsenal’s opening games.

The 25-year-old still has a contract that runs until 2026 but Arsenal fans will be pleased that the club are being proactive, just as they are with Odegaard.

Everything seems to be moving in the right direction under Mikel Arteta right now, and fans will be hoping to see silverware this season.
