Jurgen Klopp has made a confession about the current state of his Liverpool squad ahead of their meeting with Arsenal.

Arsenal will welcome current Premier League leaders Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

A win will take the Gunners to within two points of the Merseyside outfit, and will launch Mikel Arteta’s side back into the thick of the title race.

The Gunners are heading into this huge clash in good form. Having beaten Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest in their last two outings, they look to have gotten over the blip they suffered over the New Year period which saw them lose so much ground in the title race in the first place.

However, Liverpool are also enjoying an excellent run of results at this time and are worthy of their place at the top of the table.

Arsenal can still win the title this season, but the margin for error now available to them in the remainder of the campaign is already perilously thin, with reigning champions Manchester City also lurking ominously in the upper reaches of the league table. A defeat on Sunday would be hugely damaging to the north London club’s chances of being crowned champions.

Jurgen Klopp hints at Arsenal advantage

Arteta will know that his side will have to be at their best stand any chance of claiming all three points this weekend. His star attacking players such as Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli, amongst others, will all have to be clinical with any chances they can carve out. A quality that they have all too often lacked in recent weeks.

However, there may be one bonus for Arsenal, as they may well feel the fresher of the two teams coming into this fixture.

As quoted by Liverpool World, Jurgen Klopp had recently bemoaned Liverpool’s lengthy injury list and the physical toll that their hectic schedule has taken on them. The German coach said, “the next game is coming in four days and I have no idea who can play again because they looked quite knackered when I had a look in the dressing room!”

“The next massive game is coming up already, at Arsenal, and let’s recover and go again.”
