The fitness of Jurrien Timber remains the big talking point for Arsenal fans ahead of the Champions League final.

The Dutchman has been missing for a while now but there was hope among the Gunners fanbase and also for Mikel Arteta that he would return for Budapest.

With Ben White out, Timber’s return would be a huge boost for Arsenal in the biggest game of the season.

But after Ronald Koeman suggested Timber’s injury was not looking good, the player himself has now offered a different perspective.

Jurrien Timber gives Arsenal fans hope ahead of the Champions League final

If Arsenal can somehow get Timber fit then it represents a massive boost to their chances of winning.

Sure, some will argue he won’t have match fitness but given he’s been the best right-back in the league all season, it shouldn’t matter too much.

Now, Timber has told the media that he may actually make it.

“Hopefully. Yeah. There’s hope. But like I said, we’ll see,” Timber said.

“I’m working really hard. I’m trying really hard and obviously playing a Champions League final is a dream. So I will give everything and then with the World Cup as well.

“But obviously first the Champions League final and it’s going to be amazing.”

Timber was included by Gary Neville in his Sky Sports team of the season this week and it’s little wonder.

Having slotted in at both right and left-back when needed, Timber’s performances have elevated him to a status of being borderline irreplaceable at Arsenal.

If, and it’s a big if, he can return in time for the final then it’s a massive, massive boost for everyone.

With Khvicha Kvaratskhelia so dangerous down the left for PSG, having Timber to match him up simply makes life easier for everyone.
