Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has claimed that Gunners fans ‘drowned out’ Liverpool supporters in the game on Sunday

The Emirates was often a toxic place over the last decade, but those days are behind us. We seem to be building a fortress, and the supporters are one of the biggest reasons why we’ve won every single game at home this season so far.

One of the highlights of this season is how Arsenal players have been cheered on by the fans even after we concede. The first instance was against Leicester City when William Saliba scored an own goal, and it has been a constant since.

When Liverpool came back twice against Arsenal on Sunday, Gunners supporters were right behind the team. Every fan at the Emirates pushed the players on and helped us win the game in the end.

Tierney absolutely loved this. The Scotsman went on to claim that the noise Arsenal fans made after Liverpool scored was so loud that the players could barely hear the Reds supporters.

He told Arsenal’s official website: “I’d say it’s the best since I’ve been here and I think that’s a credit to all the fans, and the players and the staff. It just feels like it has clicked – everybody has come together.

“You hear reactions after we concede goals, you very rarely hear that in football. Our fans ended up drowning out the Liverpool fans after they scored, just to try and cheer us on, go again and try and get another goal. I think you need that.

“It’s been building, even last season you could see it’s been getting better and better between the players, the staff and the fans, and this season it’s all just come together and we’re one club, one unit.”

The atmosphere at the Emirates these days really is a joy to watch.

Gone are the days of banners, placards and planes going over the stadium. Everyone is fully behind the club now and one man is majorly responsible for making this happen – Mikel Arteta.

One of the Spaniard’s biggest goals, when he took charge of the club, was to reunite the fan base. He has had to work really hard to achieve that, but now, we can all see the fruits of his labour.

As long as this continues, Arsenal will be a very difficult side to beat, especially at home.
