Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has predicted Kylian Mbappe to cause problems at Real Madrid if the forward makes the move to Spain this summer.

The French international is set to leave PSG at the end of this season, with Los Blancos the club Mbappe is expected to join despite reports in recent weeks that Arsenal have joined the race to sign the striker.

Whilst Arsenal signing Mbappe would be a dream for many fans, it now seems pretty clear that Madrid will win the race for the 25-year-old, yet Petit has some strong opinions on the pending transfer.

In an interview with AS, Petit claimed that Mbappe could be a problem at Madrid due to his attitude off the pitch, with the forward potentially a bad mix with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

Indeed, Madrid is a club for big egos and personalities, and whilst Mbappe could cause some issues, there’s no denying that Carlo Ancelotti’s side can deal with potential problems, unlike at Arsenal.

Petit said: “If Mbappe goes to Madrid, that could be a problem. Not just in terms of wages into the dressing room, but in terms of leadership as well.

“Bellingham has been amazing just like Vinicius Jr, and if he goes to Madrid, he will have to play as a striker, just like what he did recently for PSG. But we all know that this is not his best position. There are so many questions and no answers.”

Real Madrid have what it takes to tame a superstar like Kylian Mbappe

As much of a dream it would be for Arsenal to have Mbappe on their books, the Gunners simply haven’t had a superstar in their squad as big as their Frenchman since the days of the Invincibles.

Times have changed since then, and although an argument could be made that Mikel Arteta has what it takes to keep Mbappe in check and to respect Arsenal’s values, we simply don’t know what could happen if the two were to work together.

At Madrid, though, Mbappe knows what he is getting himself into, with Los Blancos also aware of what it takes to tame a superstar the size of the 25-year-old, who would be their biggest signing since Cristiano Ronaldo.
