Arsenal are preparing to take on Liverpool in the Premier League knowing they still require one win to guarantee Champions League football next season.

Arne Slot’s side will receive a guard of honour for the clash, confirmed by Mikel Arteta in his pre-match press conference.

The Gunners will look at the game as an opportunity to wipe the memory of their painful European defeat and lay down an early marker for next season.

So with that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal news ahead of another busy day of action.

Premier League rivals believe Viktor Gyokeres is Arsenal bound

Arsenal’s need for a striker was further highlighted in their Champions League semi-final defeat to PSG and it seems that Viktor Gyokeres is the man that Arteta wants.

TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey has told Arsenal Insider that the Swedish striker is the ‘win now’ player that the club are looking to pursue.

Bailey stated: “I am hearing from sources around the league that Gyokeres is heading to Arsenal, Arsenal are not confirming this, but other clubs are saying this – there is a belief that he is the one.”

Gyokeres has scored over 50 goals this season for Sporting Lisbon and has already experienced English football in the Championship with Coventry City.

Jack Wilshere not being considered for Norwich managerial role

Former Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere has been dealt a blow in pursuit of the next step in his coaching career.

Wilshere has been Norwich City’s interim manager since the end of April and was unbeaten in the two games that he took charge of the club.

However, Norwich have informed Wilshere that he is not under consideration for the role on a permanent basis as the Canaries look for a more experienced boss to guide them back to the Premier League.

The England international is expected to remain as a coach at the club although his final decision is yet to be decided.
