Arsenal are fresh from their disappointing draw with Everton in the Premier League, failing to add another three points to their tally for the campaign.

Mikel Arteta will have to brush that aside quickly as a clash with Real Madrid awaits up next in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Gunners play host in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, needing something to take back with them to the Bernabeu in the reverse fixture.

So, with such a big day and week ahead, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal news.

Spanish media slam Real Madrid before Arsenal clash

As Arsenal prepare for their huge clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League, both teams are struggling for form.

The Gunners are fresh from a draw against Everton, while Los Blancos fell to defeat against Valencia in La Liga.

The Spanish media were far from impressed with the performance of Real Madrid, slamming them and their display.

“You can’t operate permanently on the pulse of a defibrillator,” AS claimed. “The team was once again an iceberg at the start, dragging its feet for a while, missing a penalty, conceding a goal, and making the Bernabeu uncomfortable.

“In short, they faded from the game, and when they tried to return, they were too exposed and said goodbye to three points in La Liga.”

Aaron Ramsdale suffers Premier League relegation

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has suffered a third Premier League relegation of his career, this time with Southampton.

The goalkeeper left the Gunners last summer in search of more first-team football, having previously fallen to second-choice behind David Raya.

The switch to Southampton came with the promise of more football, but didn’t quite come with the success he would’ve hoped for.

Instead, the Saints are now relegated to the Championship, the earliest team to do so in the competition’s history.

With Ramsdale set to leave over the summer, there is a chance for Arsenal to cash in on a decent fee from their sell-on clause.

Max Dowman praised for Arsenal under-18s display

Arsenal academy star Max Dowman continues to impress as he featured heavily in the under-18s win over Leicester City.

In a hectic clash that ended 5-3, the 15-year-old bagged a hat-trick as he continues to make headlines for the side.

Head coach Adam Birchall told the official Arsenal website about Dowman: “We’re all incredibly proud of him [Max Dowman].

“He’s currently playing under-18s football, but still has a lot of development ahead of him. It was a fantastic performance and a brilliant hat-trick.

“What really sums Max up is that he came off the pitch and was honest in the dressing room about areas we can improve as a team, as well as how he can develop individually.

“That level of humility and hunger to improve is a great sign in a young player – and that’s exactly what he showed today.”
