Mikel Arteta will be keen to use the tour to get minutes into the legs of his first-team stars and give new signings the opportunity to settle with the squad.

There are likely to be a number of young stars travelling too and they will have the chance to showcase their talents.

So, with that said, here’s a look at the latest Arsenal news today ahead of another busy day of action.

Takehiro Tomiyasu opens up on Arsenal departure

Speaking to DAZN via GOAL, former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has opened up further on his departure from the club this summer.

Tomiyasu endured a torrid time with injury during his spell in North London and after a knee injury meant he made just one appearance last season, his contract was mutually terminated.

The Japanese defender stated: “It wasn’t a sudden decision to leave. First of all, I want to make it clear that my contract wasn’t terminated unilaterally, and I didn’t unilaterally say ‘I’m leaving’.

“We had a proper discussion and came to the conclusion that ‘this decision is best for me, for the club, and for everyone,’ so I’m leaving. It all ended amicably.”

Declan Rice praised by John Obi Mikel

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has claimed that Declan Rice has completely changed the Gunners since his arrival in 2023.

Obi Mikel stated: “I mean, I’ve always said, for me, I still think the best defensive midfield player in the Premier League in my opinion, is Rodri.

“But Dec is not far away. Dec, he’s changed this Arsenal team as well, like he’s made them more solid and competitive. So that’s why they concede less goals.

“He can carry the ball – that’s something that not a lot of defensive players can do. He can carry the ball, and technically, he is very good as well. So he’s a fantastic player.”

Takehiro Tomiyasu names Aaron Ramsdale as most ‘impressive’ Arsenal player

Tomiyasu played with some great players during his time at the Gunners, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard stand out.

However, the defender has highlighted former goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as the most ‘impressive’ during his spell at the club.

Tomiyasu stated: “This player is ugly, he can kick, connect, stop, he can do everything. I’ve never seen a goalkeeper at this level.”

Ramsdale could be set to leave Southampton this summer and if it is on a permanent deal, Arsenal would receive a percentage from their sell-on clause.
