Arsenal fans bid an emotional farewell to Takehiro Tomiyasu this summer after the defender left the club after a four-year spell.
Tomiyasu’s contract was terminated by the club as the Japanese international continues his recovery from knee surgery.
It was a mutual decision to terminate the contract and it allows Tomiyasu to find his next career path upon his return from the injury that saw him make one appearance for the Gunners last season.
Tomiyasu’s emotional farewell message showed his love for the club and the defender has been reflecting upon his time in North London. He has just named the player who ‘impressed’ him the most.

Takehiro Tomiyasu names Aaron Ramsdale as most ‘impressive’ Arsenal player during his spell
Speaking to DAZN via GOAL, Tomiyasu has named former goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as the player who ‘impressed’ him the most during his time at the Emirates.
The defender has played with some exceptional talents at the Gunners, including the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, but the Southampton man topped the lot.
Tomiyasu stated: “This player is ugly, he can kick, connect, stop, he can do everything. I’ve never seen a goalkeeper at this level.”
| Aaron Ramsdale’s Arsenal record | Appearances | Goals conceded | Clean sheets |
| Ramsdale | 89 | 99 | 32 |
Ramsdale fell out of favour under Mikel Arteta following the arrival of current number one David Raya but will always have a special place in the hearts of Arsenal fans.
His passion and love for the club was there for all to see during his spell and he quickly proved any doubters wrong when he signed from Sheffield United for £30m back in 2021.
Aaron Ramsdale could help Arsenal’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo this summer
Upon selling the England goalkeeper to Southampton last summer, Arsenal have a sell-on clause for Ramsdale and could be in line to receive that money this summer.
Ramsdale is exploring a loan move from his current side after their relegation to the Championship but a number of sides across Europe are interested in the keeper.
Any fee paid for Ramsdale would see Arsenal receive a percentage and could put the money towards other attacking targets this summer.
Premier League outfits West Ham and Chelsea have expressed interest, whilst newly-promoted Sunderland have also turned their attentions to the 27-year-old.
Should a move to Sunderland materialise, Ramsdale could be set for a reunion with former Arsenal teammate Granit Xhaka.
The Black Cats are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a move for the former Gunners captain and are convinced they can persuade him to move back to England.
