Arsenal have been engaged in talks with Sporting CP over a move for Viktor Gyokeres, but there could be a surprise in store.
That’s because, according to SIC Noticias, Manchester United are closing in on an agreement for the striker this summer.
It’s claimed that a fee around the €70 million (£60.7 million) mark may be agreed upon for the Red Devils, which could see Ruben Amorim re-unite with his former striker.
It remains to be seen whether that could force Arsenal into action, who have been thrashing out some details with Sporting CP in recent weeks.

Arsenal ask about Xavi Simons transfer
While six transfers are being lined up by Arsenal, there may be some more deals in the pipeline for the Gunners.
Eberechi Eze is viewed as an option to add some playmaking ability, but he may not be the only player on the shortlist.
That’s because, according to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have asked for details surrounding the future of Xavi Simons.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “Chelsea and Arsenal both asked for information about Xavi Simons in June already.”

Cristhian Mosquera to Arsenal transfer delay
Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia this summer, but there has been something of a hold-up.
The defender hasn’t been announced in time to join the squad on their pre-season tour of Asia, due to a delay over paperwork.
The Mirror reports that the delay surrounds the formal process, with some time needed to sort out all the final details.
An image of a potential announcement has seemingly been leaked, with an expectation that he will be part of the squad soon.
