Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard has heaped praise on Declan Rice.
Leandro Trossard has hailed the positive impact that Declan Rice has had since his arrival at Arsenal.
The Gunners paid a club-record fee of £105 million to prise Rice away from West Ham United in the recent summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has hit the ground running at the Emirates Stadium. Even as the rest of his teammates struggled against Chelsea on Saturday, Rice was able to shine. He even scored the goal that got Mikel Arteta’s side back into the game.
On the pitch, the £240,000-a-week ace has been a revelation in the middle of the park. His tactical intelligence and athletic ability allow him to protect the Arsenal back four and snuff out counter attacks. On the ball, he drives his team forward and is improving his game in the final third.
Trossard has now insisted that the 46-cap England international is equally influential off the pitch. As quoted by The Standard, the Belgian attacker said of Rice, “straight away we can see his focus and he wants to help everyone. You can see he is a leader and a great guy as well.”

Declan Rice a potential Arsenal great
Rice has plenty of experience in leadership roles as he was previously a captain at West Ham. Whilst he doesn’t wear the armband for Arsenal, Arteta will still be keen to see him taking responsibility and urging those around him on to greater heights. The manager has certainly earmarked Rice as a potential future captain.
Given his relative youth, the Gunners can look forward to having Rice at the heart of their team for years to come. If he can build on the start he has made to life at the club then he has the capacity to forge a very successful Arsenal career.
However, Arteta needs to ensure that he uses Rice in the right way, in order to keep getting the best out of the player.
