Leandro Trossard is one of Arsenal’s most important players.
The Belgium international may not always be a guaranteed starter, but he has been so valuable for the Gunners since he joined them in January 2023.
Trossard has been starting regularly since Martin Odegaard suffered an injury. He has been brilliant under Mikel Arteta and has done a great job in a central position.
The Arsenal number 19 has now revealed that he has an advantage over the other attackers at the club.
Leandro Trossard’s ‘biggest advantage’ at Arsenal
Arsenal signed Trossard for just £20 million from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 29-year-old has had a huge impact at the Emirates. He averages a goal or an assist every 114.5 minutes, which is a sensational return.
Trossard has played across the front three, as a false nine and even as a number 10 at Arsenal. He has shown real quality in all of those roles.
Arteta trusts Trossard and views him as an important part of his Arsenal side. Even when he’s on the bench, he’s the first one the Arsenal manager turns to when he needs a change.
The Belgian has now had his say on his style of play, and he believes that the fact that he is versatile and two-footed gives him an advantage over other attackers.
He told Arsenal.com: “When some people get injured or even when the manager wants to play a different system, he can always use me in different positions.
“That’s the advantage for me. Also, I’m two-footed, I don’t mind playing on the left or the right, so that’s the biggest advantage I have.
“My grandfather was the one always telling me that it’s so important to be able to play with both feet. He taught me a lot and it pays off now on the pitch.”

Mikel Arteta has finally found Trossard’s best position
Trossard is probably Arsenal’s most versatile player.
The former Brighton man can play in all four attacking positions and even in midfield. He is effective in all of those roles, but he is at his best when he’s asked to play through the middle.
Trossard has the biggest impact when he plays in a central area. His strongest position is as a false nine where he gets to interchange with Kai Havertz and has the freedom to go wherever he wants.
That’s the position Arteta has deployed him in since Odegaard’s injury, and we think he should mostly be used in that role going forward.
Arsenal take on Bournemouth today, and we expect Trossard to start through the middle again.
