Leandro Trossard says Declan Rice has been ‘unbelievable’ for Arsenal this season after they defeated Atletico Madrid to reach the Champions League final.

Arsenal reached the Champions League final for the first time since 2006 following an impressive 2-1 aggregate win over Atletico.

Bukayo Saka scored the only goal at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening as Mikel Arteta’s team managed to keep Diego Simeone’s side at bay.

Following the win in N5, Trossard has been speaking about the importance of Rice after the Arsenal midfielder produced another superb display.

Leandro Trossard hails Declan Rice’s importance for Arsenal

Leandro Trossard believes Declan Rice’s importance to Arsenal has been huge this season and not just against Atletico Madrid.

The 27-year-old has been such a key player both on and off the pitch in helping the Gunners reach the summit of the Premier League table and in the final of the Champions League.

Once again, he was brilliant during the win against Atletico, and Trossard told Hayters TV: “I don’t think it’s just tonight that maybe he’s an unbelievable player.

“He’s helped us already so much this season and in the past. So, I think it’s natural for him to be a leader to talk to the players and also show it on the pitch with his feet.”

👀 TRUE or FALSE: Mikel Arteta should NOT use Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back again…

Rice has played in a deeper role over recent weeks, and that seems to have benefited both him and the team.

Myles Lewis-Skelly has also looked great in midfield and acted as the perfect partner for him in the middle of the pitch.

Rice seems to enjoy playing in midfield with the teenager, telling Prime Video: “We’ve always known what Myles can do.

“I remember last year when he played so many games, when he stepped up at Real Madrid away in the Bernabeu 18, that’s when I really thought, wow, we have a player. And our manager this year, he’s been tough on him behind the scenes.”

Martin Zubimendi looks to have lost his spot in the team, but Arteta now needs to stick with this midfield formula, which has improved Arsenal immensely.
