The Premier League title race is currently between Liverpool and Arsenal.
The Gunners were, in many people’s eyes, the favourites to win the title at the start of the campaign, but Arne Slot’s side have surprised everyone.
Liverpool have looked really good this season, and if they carry on at the same rate, they will comfortably end the campaign as the Premier League champions.
Arsenal will need to be flawless from now and hope that Liverpool will slip up a couple of times. That is the only way, but Robbie Fowler thinks the Gunners don’t stand a chance because of one player.
Robbie Fowler says Arsenal will not win the Premier League with Kai Havertz as their striker
Arsenal have found themselves in a striker crisis.
Gabriel Jesus suffered a season-ending injury in January, and the Gunners’ board did not give Mikel Arteta a new striker in the winter window.
That could prove to be a massive error as Havertz will have to play almost every game up top now, even though Arteta thinks four other Arsenal players can play as strikers.
Fowler, who knows a thing or two about being an elite striker, has had his say on Arsenal, and he believes the Premier League title will be an unachievable dream because Havertz is not good enough to lead the line.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the Liverpool legend said: “If I’m being honest, he’s (Havertz) not my cup of tea.
“I think he’s OK but, if you’re a team that’s got real aspirations of winning Premier Leagues and Champions Leagues, then I think you need someone better than Kai Havertz playing in that focal striker role.
“He’ll do a job but I don’t think he’s been as consistent as he would have liked. I just think there are better players out there.”
People are forgetting one thing about Kai Havertz
The amount of criticism Havertz gets is beyond ridiculous.
The Germany international offers so much to Arsenal every game. He is involved in the build-up, creates so much space for his teammates and goes to war for his side with opposition defenders.
Yet, all the critics can talk about is his goals.
But, the one thing people are forgetting is that Havertz has scored 15 goals and provided five assists in all competitions this season.
That is the same number of direct goal involvements as Ollie Watkins, who Arsenal tried to sign in the winter transfer window.
Arsenal do need a more prolific striker, but the criticism Havertz gets is really unfair. He does a much better job than people give him credit for.
