Martin Keown gives Arsenal star Martin Zubimendi a new nickname
Martin Zubimendi has impressed everyone since he joined Arsenal.
It usually takes quite some time for players from foreign leagues to adapt to the Premier League, but the Arsenal number 36 has hit the ground running.
Keown recently labelled Zubimendi as the best midfielder in Europe, and the Arsenal legend’s admiration for the Spaniard has not gone away.
Speaking about the 1-1 draw against Chelsea, a game in which the former Real Sociedad man was withdrawn in the second half, Keown called him Arsenal’s most important player alongside Declan Rice.
Furthermore, he gave the midfielder a new nickname.
He said on talkSPORT: “Zubimendi, I call him Supermendi! He’s that good.
“I think he’s almost the most important player alongside Declan Rice.”
Do you have any nicknames for Arsenal’s first team players?
‘Supermendi’ perfectly describes Martin Zubimendi
Zubimendi is a very special player.
The Spaniard is not the biggest or strongest on the pitch, but the way he has been able to dominate games in the middle of the park despite it being his first season in England has been excellent.
Even Mikel Arteta was surprised by how quickly Zubimendi has adapted, and that is what makes him a tremendous player.
Keown’s nickname for the superb Zubimendi, or Supermendi, is absolutely spot on.
