It’s fair to say Martin Keown is a big fan of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, and he has just compared him to a Manchester United legend.

This season at Arsenal, Rice has been one of the best players in the world, thanks to his all-around game being his standout quality.

Mikel Arteta has moved Rice into a more advanced role this term following the signing of Martin Zubimendi, and it’s really helped to get the best out of him.

The 27-year-old is one of the hardest-working players in the Premier League right now, which has led to comparisons to a Red Devils hero.

Martin Keown thinks Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi are so important for Arsenal

Martin Keown has been singing the praises of Declan Rice and has just compared him to Bryan Robson at Manchester United.

Robson was a huge part of United’s team back in the 80s and early 90s, becoming the complete midfield player, just like Rice.

The former Arsenal defender says that Rice is ‘everywhere’ for the Gunners and is now the ‘Bryan Robson of this era’.

As mentioned, Rice is now playing in a new number eight role for the Gunners, which has allowed him to express himself more in North London.

Speaking ahead of the clash against Sunderland, Keown told TNT Sports: “Zubimendi in midfield is a wonderful talent as well. I sincerely hope he’s back and ready this weekend.

“Declan is now becoming the Bryan Robson of this era. He’s just up and down and everywhere.”

Keown is also right to praise Zubimendi, who’s been an exceptional signing for Arsenal and helped to unlock the England international’s full potential at the Emirates Stadium.

Rice and Zubimendi starting together often results in one outcome for the Gunners, and that is a win.

In the 14 matches which they have played alongside one another, Arsenal have won 11, drawn two and lost just once.
