Martin Keown has gone from being a defender for Arsenal on the pitch to a defender of the Gunners in the media.

In a world where almost every pundit loves jumping on bandwagons, creating narratives and dividing the fan base, the legendary Englishman has shown a lot of integrity.

Now, following Arsenal’s much-talked-about win over West Ham United, Keown heard Peter Schmeichel make some comments that he just was not happy with.

The Arsenal Invincible labelled them ‘ridiculous’ and then pointed at the Dane’s allegiance for his unnecessary remarks on the Gunners.

Martin Keown slams Peter Schmeichel’s ‘ridiculous’ comments on Arsenal

Schmeichel has rarely ever said anything good about Arsenal.

The Manchester United icon was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League during his time at the club – nobody can deny that.

However, since he has turned into a pundit, he has rubbed Arsenal fans the wrong way one too many times.

Martin Keown had had enough this week after hearing Schmeichel criticise the decision to give a foul on David Raya.

The Arsenal legend said, as per The Metro: “What’s remarkable is that it’s a goalkeeper affected by this.

“If it had happened to him [Schmeichel], then he’d have been screaming from the rooftops that that’s a foul.

“If he [Schmeichel] is still playing and he gets fouled to that degree… come on, it’s ridiculous!

“He’s angry because it’s Arsenal. Did he not play for Manchester City? Did he not play for Manchester United? The current rivals and the former rivals of Arsenal.”

Was this the most nerve-racking moment you’ve ever experienced as an Arsenal fan? If not, what was? 😬

Most pundits’ worst fear is about to come true

Almost every pundit is aware of the fact that if they talk about Arsenal, they will get a lot of engagement from the fans.

That is why many come out with silly comments every now and again – not because they mean it, but because it will get them the attention they want.

All of those pundits have been desperate for Arsenal to collapse in the Premier League title race, but that hasn’t happened so far.

The Gunners are in a fantastic position to get over the line, and that has caused some fear – because the pundits will not be taken seriously when they try to discredit Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal fans and players should ignore every one of these pundits. That is the only way their agenda-driven narratives will stop.
