Arsenal are arguably the best team in the world right now.

The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table, and they have won each of their first three games in the Champions League as well.

Mikel Arteta’s men are scoring goals while maintaining the best defence in Europe’s top five leagues – just three goals conceded after 12 games.

One of the big reasons behind Arsenal’s great start to the season is Gabriel Magalhaes, and Martin Keown has heaped praise on him.

Martin Keown says Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes is unstoppable

Gabriel is one of Arsenal’s most important players.

The Brazilian has entered his fifth year as a Gunner, and his performances since the start of the campaign have been exceptional.

Even though he is a centre-back and his first job is to defend, one of Gabriel’s biggest strengths is his ability in the opposition box.

The 27-year-old is a massive threat during corners and set-pieces, and Atletico Madrid learned that the hard way in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

After watching him score and assist, Keown raved about him on TNT Sports. He said: “That’s an emphatic message and performance from Arsenal tonight.

“The goals, Rice, the delivery, always on the money. Gabriel, you know what he’s going to do, but you can’t stop him. His goal involvements are just ridiculous.”

Keown is right, Gabriel’s output is absolutely sensational.

The Brazil international has directly contributed to four goals this season – that’s more than any other centre-back in Europe’s top five leagues.

Furthermore, since he joined Arsenal in 2020, no centre-half in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more goals for a club than him – 22.

Gabriel is 27 now and entering the prime years of his career.

He is the best in the world in terms of having an impact in set-piece situations, and with Nicolas Jover’s brilliance and Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka’s deliveries, we won’t be surprised if he becomes even better.

If that happens, Arsenal will become nearly unstoppable.
