Arsenal handed Martin Odegaard injury boost

Martin Odegaard is inching closer to making a return to action for Arsenal after an injury issue that has kept him out for roughly two months.

The midfielder has struggled with an ankle issue he picked up during the September international break with Norway.

Upon his return, it was revealed that ligament damage would keep him out, which has come as a big problem for Mikel Arteta.

The Arsenal boss has endured some difficult results without the club captain, but he could return in time for Champions League action with Inter Milan.

That’s because Odegaard was pictured back in training ahead of the tie on Wednesday night, which could see him back in the squad.

Santi Cazorla open to Arsenal return amid Edu Gaspar exit

Arsenal director of football Edu Gaspar has resigned after five years at the club in the boardroom making decisions over transfers.

The Brazilian has made a huge impact on the squad with an overhaul in transfer strategy, which has seen results improve.

However, with his exit now confirmed, the Gunners will be looking for their next hire to help take the club to the next level.

That could even be in the form of another former player, with Santi Cazorla previously revealing his intentions to return.

Speaking in May 2020, the ex-midfielder said: “I don’t know what my legacy is [at Arsenal]. You would have to ask the fans, but I want to thank everyone.

“I don’t know what I will do next, maybe a coach, maybe a sports director, but I would like to come back.”

Arsenal regret missing out on Joao Neves transfer

Over the years, Arsenal have missed out on plenty of high-profile transfers for one reason or another, but one recent target is still fresh in the mind.

That man is Joao Neves, who made the switch from Benfica to PSG over the summer and has impressed ever since.

The Gunners were showing interest in a move but couldn’t get a deal over the line as a deal to join the Paris club was on the cards.

With that in mind, Arsenal Insider understands that scouts at the club already regret that they weren’t able to sign the 20-year-old midfielder.

It remains to be seen whether that could prompt a big-money move in the future, though he is seemingly secure at PSG for the time being.
