Arsenal club captain Martin Odegaard has fired a subtle dig at West Ham United on social media.
In the wake of Arsenal thrashing West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday, Martin Odegaard has rubbed salt into the Hammers’ wounds on social media.
Odegaard was instrumental to the Gunners’ scintillating display in east London. The Norwegian playmaker racked up two assists in the match as he set up goals for Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka, and was generally at the heart of Arsenal’s free-flowing attacking play.
Odegaard even became the leading player in Europe this season in one key area during his display against the Irons. This was also a record-breaking result for Arsenal.
Clearly, the 25-year-old enjoyed the outing in east London, and was keen to keep on revelling in the result after the final whistle. On Instagram, the former Real Madrid man posted a picture featuring a backgammon board with two dice on it. The total on the two die adds up to six, in what was clearly intended as a subtle hint towards the result of the earlier match.

Arsenal fans will enjoy the taunt, and will be particularly pleased to see Odegaard playing with such freedom on the pitch. Earlier on this season, the Norway international endured a tough period where he struggled to reach his peak levels due to a fitness concern he was playing through. Now, though, he looks to be very much back to his best.
Mikel Arteta will certainly need Odegaard fit and firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season if Arsenal are to stand any chance of being crowned champions.
The midfielder is so important to Arsenal, not just for the magic he can conjure on the ball, but for all of the work he does off it. Odegaard is a tactical leader on the pitch, who dictates and directs how Arsenal press as a team, and he is relentless and tireless in his own defensive efforts.
