Martin Odegaard says ‘powerful’ summer signing has settled in really quickly at Arsenal

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has given his thoughts on the Gunners’ new signings this summer.

The Gunners have strengthened their ranks considerably over the past few months, with six new players through the door at the Emirates Stadium.

Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga have all joined Arsenal this summer.

Martin Odegaard has now spoken about Arsenal’s new arrivals, saying there’s just one player he’s not massively familiar with yet, but he praised how quickly he has settled in.

Cristhian Mosquera has settled in ‘really quickly’ at Arsenal

Arsenal are taking on Leeds United on Saturday and Odegaard spoke about his new teammates in the match programme.

The Gunners captain said only Cristhian Mosquera is a somewhat unknown quantity to him for now, but noted how he has acclimatised well to life at N5.

“We’ve had six new players join as well in the summer, and being away like we were really helps people settle in,” said Odegaard, as per the Arsenal website.

“I already knew Zubi from playing together at Real Sociedad.

“Then Viktor Gyokeres and Christian Norgaard – I’ve played against them both but I feel like when you’re from Scandinavia, you have that little bond already. It all feels very natural.

“Then obviously Kepa and Noni I have played against a few times too, so I think the only one I didn’t really know was Cristhian Mosquera.

“But even though he hasn’t been here long, he has settled really quickly like all of the others, and they are all great lads.”

What Adrian Clarke has already noticed about Cristhian Mosquera

Although Mosquera is yet to play competitively for Arsenal, he featured prominently in pre-season.

The £13million signing defender is expected to play a squad role at the Emirates, providing the likes of Ben White, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba with cover.

However, on the basis of his display against Villarreal, Mosquera certainly has a chance of earning himself regular minutes in 2025/26.

Adrian Clarke was impressed with how Mosquera fared against Villarreal in pre-season, both at right-back and at centre-back.

“It was then up to Mosquera on the cover run, and he showed a good turn of foot to be fair,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“He’s really, really quick, but he couldn’t get there, and it was a heck of a finish from [Arnaut] Danjuma past Kepa [Arrizabalaga], absolutely no chance.”

Indeed, Arsenal insiders have apparently been left pleasantly surprised by Mosquera, based on how good the “powerful” talent has looked in training since arriving at N5.
