Ahead of the first North London derby of the season, Martin Odegaard has been discussing his favourite memory and highlighted his goal back in 2023.

The Arsenal captain has an impressive record against Tottenham, winning six of his eight meetings against the club’s bitter rivals.

Given the state of the Premier League title race, the Norwegian captain will be hoping the team can produce yet another three points.

Odegaard says he’s slowly getting better, but looks set to miss Sunday’s North London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Martin Odegaard loved his goal away at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has named his goal away at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2023 as his favourite memory from the North London derby.

The 26-year-old netted the second goal of the game away at Spurs, with a superb effort from outside the area, after Bukayo Saka had scored the opener.

Speaking to The Dispatch, Odegaard said: “My favourite memory, probably when I scored that goal away and we won that game. That goal is one of my favourite goals, a nice strike, that is a special memory for me.”

Mikel Arteta’s team went on to win 2-0 and moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League after Man City dropped points.

The Gunners will be hoping that the same thing happens this weekend, with City travelling away to Newcastle the evening before the derby.

Following the previous gameweek, Arsenal are four points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s team and will be keen to make sure that remains the case.

Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Tottenham was surely Mikel Arteta’s best North London derby moment

Arsenal’s 2-0 win at Tottenham was surely Arteta’s finest North London derby moment, as his team went and handled such big pressure with real poise.

The Gunners were facing an Antonio Conte team who were eager to stop them extending their lead at the top, but they ended up dominating proceedings in N17.

After collecting another three points, there was a real sense that day that the North Londoners would go on to win the Premier League title.

Two first-half goals put them well out of sight early on, and defensively they were excellent, keeping Harry Kane and Son Heung-min at bay.

This time around, Arsenal are without Gabriel Magalhaes due to a groin injury, but still have plenty of options who can step up.
