Arsenal star Martin Odegaard has shared the pitch with a number of top-class footballers over the years.

The Norway international has been a star since he was just 15. He joined Real Madrid at a very young age and spent a few seasons out on loan in Spain and abroad.

Things did not work out for him at Real Madrid, but Odegaard has been unbelievable since joining Arsenal on a permanent deal in 2022.

The Arsenal star has now revealed who his best mate is.

Martin Odegaard snubs Erling Haaland and names Kai Havertz as his ‘best friend’

Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland have known each other for a long time.

The Daily Mail revealed in 2022 that the two players have become ‘close friends after growing up in the Norwegian footballing ranks together’.

Odegaard and Haaland have publicly spoken about their friendship too over the years. The Arsenal captain described him as a ‘good friend’ and a ‘great guy’ in an interview with Stadium Astro.

However, Haaland is not Odegaard’s ‘best friend’.

That’s according to the Arsenal captain himself, who sat down to answer 20 questions on TNT Sports ahead of the Champions League game against Sporting CP.

Odegaard was asked to name his ‘best friend in football’. Some fans were expecting him to say Haaland, but the midfielder went in a different direction.

“I’ll probably say Kai (Havertz),” he said.

Why Arsenal fans have been laughing at Erling Haaland recently

Haaland is one of the best strikers in world football, but most Arsenal fans don’t really like him.

The Manchester City man has often struggled against William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, and that has led to a few angry exchanges on the pitch.

The worst one was when Haaland told Mikel Arteta to ‘stay humble’ after a 2-2 draw between the two sides at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.

Haaland’s record since has been embarrassing – he has scored two goals in seven appearances despite having an xG of 7.92.

To add to that, City have lost five games in a row in all competitions, including a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham of all clubs. That, again, is embarrassing!

Arsenal fans have been mocking Haaland on social media by telling him to ‘stay humble’.
