Martin Zubimendi has enjoyed an excellent first few months at Arsenal, which has now been capped off with an award.
The Gunners sit top of the Premier League table after seven matches, a point clear of the reigning champions Liverpool.
Several of Mikel Arteta’s new signings have contributed to this exceptional early-season form, none more so than the impressive Zubimendi.
The Spaniard has slotted into Arsenal’s team seamlessly and is building a promising relationship with Declan Rice in the middle of the park.

Martin Zubimendi wins Premier League goal of the month award for September
Arsenal signed Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £55 million in the summer.
Immediately thrust into the Gunners team from the start of the campaign, he has performed consistently well and is subsequently now earning plaudits for these displays.
Martin Keown believes Zubimendi has been better than any other signing in Europe, and this is hard to argue with given how prominent he’s been in the team who are top of the most challenging league in the continent.
The 26-year-old opened his account for Arsenal in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, and this goal has now been named the Premier League Goal of the Month for September.
With the game at the Emirates poised at 0-0, Zubimendi expertly caught a volley on the edge of the box following an Arsenal corner that had been cleared, with the ball flying past Matz Sels in between the sticks.
The midfielder wheeled away in celebration, sporting his typical cheeky grin. Not only has this strike won the Goal of the Month, it was also the first time he’s found the back of the net from outside the box in his career.
Riding high from this goal, he then scored his second in a red and white shirt later in the same match, deftly nodding home from a Leandro Trossard cross.

Zubimendi is the first Arsenal player to win Premier League Goal of the Month since December 2021
Arsenal have been devoid of Goal of the Month winners for some time now.
The last player to claim the award wearing a Gunners shirt was Alexandre Lacazette in December 2021, almost four years ago.
The Frenchman was handed the accolade for his strike in a 3-0 win over Southampton at the Emirates, slotting home after an exceptional team move which started with goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
This game, coincidentally, kick-started Arsenal’s exceptional run that almost secured them a place in the Champions League that season. This form continued into the following campaign, when Mikel Arteta’s side competed for the title, and has continued ever since.
Despite the generally positive results for the Gunners since then, they clearly haven’t produced a goal worthy enough of being crowned the best in its calendar month.
