Martin Zubimendi says Arsenal player who’s played just once this year works harder than anyone else

Martin Zubimendi has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season.

Mikel Arteta signed the Spain international from Real Sociedad last summer after chasing his signature for well over a year.

Zubimendi has been near-flawless in the middle of the park and is among the big reasons why Arsenal are on top of the Premier League and Champions League tables.

How much is Martin Zubimendi worth to Arsenal now?

It's certainly a lot more than the £51m we paid!

The Spaniard is not the only defensive midfielder Andrea Berta signed in the summer. Christian Norgaard was the other one, and Zubimendi seems to be impressed by him.

Martin Zubimendi says Christian Norgaard works harder than any other Arsenal player

Arsenal signed Norgaard from Brentford in the summer transfer window.

Thomas Frank wanted to take the Dane with him to Tottenham Hotspur, but like Eberechi Eze, Norgaard rejected Spurs for the Gunners.

The former Bees skipper was brought in as a backup midfielder in the summer. It was clear that he wasn’t going to play much, and that has been the case.

Norgaard has made 11 appearances so far this year, and just one of them has come since the turn of 2026.

Despite that, the midfielder’s professionalism behind the scenes has not gone unnoticed.

In December, Arteta claimed that Norgaard’s preparation ahead of games is better than anyone else’s at Arsenal.

Now, Martin Zubimendi has echoed that sentiment.

When asked to name the hardest worker at Arsenal by Viaplay Premier Sunday, he replied: “Christian Norgaard!”

Did Arsenal make a mistake signing Norgaard for £15 million? Let us know in the comments… 🤔

Christian Norgaard may leave Arsenal

Norgaard was delighted to join Arsenal because he had never been at a big club before. He was also keen on playing in the Champions League, which is, again, something he had never done in the past.

Those dreams have been fulfilled since his move to the Emirates, and now, he is attracting interest.

De Telegraaf revealed recently that Dutch giants Ajax are interested in signing Norgaard, who has played just 90 minutes of football in 2026.

It is unclear what Arsenal’s stance is, but we can’t imagine that they will block a move if the Dane asks to leave the club.

However, we just cannot see a move happening in the January transfer window. That could change in the summer.
