Max Dowman is the player who has made the most headlines for Arsenal during pre-season so far.

Indeed, Dowman has been brilliant for Arsenal in his first appearances at senior level, and, as you can imagine, the vultures are already circling.

Arsenal’s academy continuously produce fantastic players, but, sadly, in recent years, some of those talents have been poached.

Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi have both ended up at Manchester United, and Arsenal will want to avoid the same thing happening with Dowman.

Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, Stuart James has been discussing Dowman’s contract situation at Arsenal, and he has some good news to share.

Max Dowman keen on staying at Arsenal

According to James, Dowman’s situation at Arsenal is rather clear-cut.

The journalist says that while everyone in the game is keen on Dowman, the player isn’t going to be led astray by assurances of more money.

James notes that Dowman has been an Arsenal fan for years, and there’s an element of security that comes with that.

“Arsenal won’t need any telling. Anyone and everyone would love to take Dowman at this opportunity. There’s going to come a point, obviously, when they can put a contract in front of him, and that contract is going to be really, really important,” James said.

“Everything we’re led to believe is that money won’t be the be-all and end-all. He’s an Arsenal fan. He’s been at Arsenal for years.”

Which other Arsenal players support the club?

Dowman is coming through as yet another Arsenal supporter playing for the club.

The teenager grew up as a Gooner, and he’s not the only player in the Arsenal squad who grew up supporting the north London club.

Reiss Nelson

William Saliba
Oleksandr Zinchenko

Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Myles Lewis-Skelly are all local lads who grew up supporting Arsenal, while William Saliba was an Arsenal fan from a young age due to the fact so many French players were at the Emirates around that time.

Oleksandr Zinchenko also grew up supporting Arsenal as a kid, and he’s now achieved his dream of playing for the Gunners.

Dowman will be a wanted man in years to come, but, by the sounds of it, he will remain at Arsenal for the foreseeable future.
