Arsenal have been the best team in Europe this season, it’s hard to argue against that.
The Gunners are top of the Premier League and top of the Champions League table, and they’re coming off the back of two massive wins against Tottenham and Bayern Munich.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 1 | 12 | 9 | 2 | 1 | 24 | 6 | 18 | 29 |
However, despite their brilliance, some are desperate to play down Arsenal’s performances this season.
Arsenal have been criticised at times for their over-reliance on set-pieces. Joshua Kimmich had plenty to say this week on that matter, while others have been critical too.
What rival managers have said about Arsenal’s set-pieces 🔥
Speaking on The Rest is Football, Micah Richards has been discussing Arsenal’s set-pieces, but he’s given a much more positive spin, claiming that Arsenal are simply unbelievable from dead-ball situations.

Micah Richards hails Arsenal’s set-piece prowess
Richards spoke about Arsenal’s set plays after scoring from another dead-ball situation against Bayern Munich.
The pundit noted that Arsenal are abnormally brilliant from these situations, claiming that he’s not seen much like this in the past.
“How good are Arsenal at set pieces? It’s not normal how good they are. Like, how can you get delivery right every single time? It’s not normal.”
Arsenal certainly stand out from the crowd when it comes to scoring from dead ball situations, and while it may not always be pretty, it’s certainly effective.
Arsenal are on track to break set-piece goals record
As Richards says, Arsenal are incredible from set plays, and, interestingly, the Gunners have set a record with their goals from these situations.
Indeed, Arsenal set a record for set-piece goals in a season two years ago, scoring 20 in 38 games.
Interestingly, Arsenal already have 10 goals from set-pieces, this season, and, at this rate, they could break their own record.
Do you think Arsenal will break their set-piece goal record?
Of course, with Gabriel Magalhaes out injured for a few weeks, Arsenal may not be as dangerous from set plays, but the likes of Mikel Merino, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba can all be big threats in their own right.
People may not like it, but Arsenal’s prowess from set plays has carried them to the top of the Premier League this season, and it may well keep them there to the bitter end.
