At the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta’s team managed just one shot on target against the Portuguese club, and they are fortunate the visitors looked toothless on the night.

The North London club will not be able to play as poorly as they did against Manchester City on the weekend; otherwise, Richards says they will get ‘demolished’.

Micah Richards worried by Declan Rice’s reaction after Sporting CP

Micah Richards is worried about Declan Rice’s reaction after Arsenal eliminated Sporting CP from the Champions League.

After the final whistle, the 27-year-old looked dejected, and Richards thinks he knew that the performance was not good enough.

The Gunners face a title-deciding match on the weekend and cannot afford to repeat that performance against Pep Guardiola’s team.

Speaking about Rice’s reaction at full-time, Richards told CBS Sports: “You know when you look in the whites of someone’s eyes?

“If you look at Declan Rice, he goes, ‘That wasn’t good enough’. He wanted a little bit more before going to the Etihad. If they play like that, they’ll get demolished.”

Even Ian Wright admits he hates watching Arsenal play, and the Gunners have very little time to fix things ahead of their trip to the Etihad.

But Richards is right, play how they did against Sporting, and the form of this Man City team will see their Premier League title hopes decimated.

Arsenal really need players like Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori back as the current group is really struggling.

Rice needs help creating in the midfield, and Odegaard is the only Gunners star who could make a genuine difference right now.

Without Saka and Odegaard, Rice knows he has a great deal of work to do carrying this Arsenal team on Sunday.
