Former Arsenal director Edu Gaspar is coming under real pressure at Nottingham Forest ahead of the game against West Ham United, according to The Telegraph.

Following the club’s whirlwind campaign last season, Forest have come crashing back down to earth after a shocking first half of the season.

Tuesday’s clash against West Ham is now of great significance as the team sitting in 18th place could close the gap on them to just one point with a win.

The former Arsenal director signed 13 new players for Nuno Espirito Santo last summer, but he has now been sacked, as was Ange Postecoglou.

The Reds now have just two wins in their last eight matches, so following a summer of big money spent and two managers fired, Edu is under pressure.

At the start of 2025, Arteta aimed a subtle dig at Edu by suggesting that he was often left short of quality depth. Arsenal now have the best squad depth in Europe following the great work done by Berta.

Towards the end of Edu’s reign, Arsenal became rather hit and miss in the transfer window, hence why they opted for a change of sporting director.

In the words of one fan, Berta has ‘changed lives’ at Arsenal following his arrival at the start of last year.

The Italian director made some superb signings in the summer, in the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze.

The Gunners now have quite possibly the best squad in Europe, with Berta adding real quality in depth at the Emirates Stadium.

Edu’s departure looked to be a concern at the time, but that is far from the case now, given Berta’s recent work in N5.
