Mikel Arteta deserves huge praise for how Arsenal’s season is going, but so does Andrea Berta.

Edu Gaspar’s sudden departure has become a blessing in disguise for Arsenal, who haven’t looked back since hiring Berta.

The Italian has been the perfect successor to Edu, as Arsenal’s success in the summer transfer window is showing.

On matchday three of the Champions League, Berta was in attendance as Arsenal demolished his former club, Atletico Madrid, and fans ensured the sporting director felt the love.

Arsenal fans thank Andrea Berta after Atletico Madrid win

Arsenal fans have made their appreciation for Berta known, but against Atletico, one supporter delivered their verdict to the Italian’s face.

As Berta walked down the tunnel, a fan filmed an interaction between the sporting director and supporters and posted it on TikTok.

“Berta, you changed my life!” the fan said.

Berta put his thumb up to fans and then looked and smiled directly at the supporter who was showering him with praise.

The businessman then continued to walk, only to turn around again as the fan continued to show their appreciation for Berta’s work.

“Berta, you changed my life, thank you, we’re winning it all!”

Diego Simeone might’ve had something to say to Berta after Arsenal’s win, as Viktor Gyokeres, one of Atletico’s former targets, scored a brace.

Berta’s parting gift to Atletico Madrid was on show at the Emirates

Berta signed some incredible talent during his time at Atletico Madrid and brought his expertise to North London.

Though the Italian would’ve loved what he saw from Arsenal above anything else on Tuesday night, he also would’ve been in awe of Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez was one of Berta’s final signings at Atletico, a worthy parting gift, as the Emirates saw.

The former Manchester City star was at the top of his game against the Gunners, almost scoring, only to see his shot rattle the crossbar.

Even Thierry Henry was impressed with Alvarez’s performance against Arsenal, but the striker’s brilliance alone was not enough to change the direction of the points.

The match was one that Berta could watch and appreciate the work he’s done over the years, as both Arsenal and his former club had players he signed thriving on the pitch.
