Arsenal are still searching for a new sporting director following Edu Gaspar’s exit in early November, with questions over which name could soon be in charge of transfers.

Plenty of different links have appeared, though the latest of those appears to be Dan Ashworth, who recently left Manchester United after just five months in the job at Old Trafford.

With those rumours flying around, the stance of the club is relatively clear now, setting up an interesting race for the top job.

Mikel Arteta responds to Arsenal transfer rumour

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was quizzed on a possible transfer for the January transfer window, with less than a few weeks until the market opens.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a striker for the window, one that may be the difference between winning the league or missing out.

While a move into the club may be touted, it’s a switch out that has been discussed, with Gabriel Jesus a name occurring a few times over an exit.

Arteta was asked about it by the press ahead of the Monaco game, where he was blunt and short in his response.

“No, nonsense,” he said in response to reports of a possible exit for the Brazilian, who has been struggling for goals.
