Mikel Arteta had his head in his hands after seeing what £45m Arsenal star did vs Man United

Arsenal beat Manchester United 2-0 in the Premier League.

The Gunners were the better side and completely deserved the win. Mikel Arteta’s men created more chances from open play as well as set-pieces and were barely tested at the back.

Jurrien Timber opened the scoring with a header off Declan Rice’s corner. William Saliba then found the net with his backside to double Arsenal’s lead and seal the win.

The North Londoners should’ve scored more goals against United. They had a few great chances too.

What Thomas Partey did that made Mikel Arteta put his head in his hands

Arsenal started the game on the front foot against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

The Gunners weren’t at their fluid best, but they were more than comfortable every time they got on the ball in the opposition half.

Arsenal won a corner in the eighth minute of the game. Rice took it and Thomas Partey somehow found himself unmarked just a few yards away from goal.

All the Ghana international had to do was direct it goalwards, but the ball hit his shoulder instead of his head and bounced out of play.

That really seemed like a sitter, and everyone inside the Emirates Stadium could not believe it when Partey failed to find the back of the net.

Even Arteta and set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, who were watching the action from the touchline, were shocked that Arsenal did not score.

Both men were spotted putting their heads in their hands in disappointment.

Thomas Partey needs to be prepared for double role at Arsenal

On his day, Partey is one of the best midfielders in the world.

The £45 million Ghanaian can dominate the game from the number six position, and his presence there allows the likes of Martin Odegaard and Rice to do what they want higher up the pitch.

Partey’s qualities as a midfielder are well known, but Arsenal will need him to play in a different position too at times in the busy schedule coming up – at right-back.

It would be very silly to make Timber play every single game. With Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu out injured, Arsenal have no other senior right-back available.

Partey played the final 20 minutes of the game at right-back against Manchester United on Wednesday night. We have a feeling we’ll see a lot more of him in that role until one of Tomiyasu or White returns.
