Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has been spotted in full training with the Arsenal squad, having missed pre-season with injury.

The 23-year-old was left frustrated as he could not participate in the pre-season tour in the USA, and will now be behind the rest of the squad in terms of match fitness following an injury he picked up a few weeks ago.

However, Nelson is now training with the rest of the squad, and could be fit for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

He was seen fully participating in training drills as per clips uploaded onto the club website, and this may indicate that he will be back on the pitch soon.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Nelson will be useful this season

The academy product ended speculation over his future and signed a contract extension earlier this summer, and could finally be set to kick on this season.

He has been unlucky with injuries throughout his Arsenal career, but he remains one of the most talented products the academy has produced in recent years, which is significant when considering that the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe came along at a similar time.

Mikel Arteta described him as “important” after his impressive cameo and stunning goal helped Arsenal complete a famous comeback victory over Bournemouth earlier this year, and this can help him light a spark to compete for a first-team spot.

He will likely be the main backup to Saka on the right-wing, whilst also being able to play on the left, and his impressive substitute appearances last season can be the foundation of a big campaign in terms of fitness and output from the talented Englishman.

It remains to be seen whether he will be on the bench for the game against Forest, given the talent within the squad and his current fitness status, but we will hopefully see him in action soon.
