Arsenal are preparing for one of the biggest games in the club’s history as PSG come to town.

Aaron Ramsdale believes Arsenal are favourites to win the Champions League if they can overcome the French title-winners with the first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The French media are ‘worried’ about PSG’s form heading into the clash as they relinquished their unbeaten domestic record with a defeat at home to Nice.

PSG fans had a message for their players that instructed them to ‘take out’ Arsenal but Mikel Arteta will have his players fired up for the tie. He also spent some time in Paris on loan as a player and revealed his thoughts on his experience there.

Mikel Arteta revealed his thoughts on his time at PSG

Speaking to Sky Sports, before Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over PSG earlier this season, Arteta revealed that his time at PSG helped to ‘shape’ his career in football.

Arteta stated: “It was an unbelievable time that I spent there, I loved every minute of it and I will always be grateful to the club and to Luis Fernandez because he was the one who believed in me when I was 17 and 18 years old.

“From there it was the platform to share an experience in a club of that size and in a city that is probably the most beautiful one in Europe, an experience that stayed forever and team mates that helped me and shaped who I wanted to be as a player,

“Then as well, igniting something in me to become a manager in the future and there was some very important individuals there.”

Mikel Arteta’s playing career

Arteta’s break through season in senior football came at PSG and he eventually went on to make 53 appearances for the French club across a loan spell.

He really made his name in British football during a spell at Rangers in Scotland before moving to Everton and then eventually the Gunners.

He won three major honours with Rangers, including the Scottish title and then enjoyed two FA Cup wins with Arsenal as a midfielder.

Former Gunners star Lukas Podolski ‘always knew’ Arteta would be a manager and the Spaniard is now looking for a major title on his managerial CV to prove any last remaining doubters wrong once and for all.
